growing up in chicago, later detroit-based music producer, theo parrish is internationally well known for his own inimitable downtempo house music style. the approach parrish took to compiling dj-kicks was very ambitious, inviting his detroit peers to produce a collection of brand new material, and in turn creating the first ever all exclusive entry to the esteemed series.

parrish smith makes his dekmantel debut on the labels sister-techno imprint, ufo, with a blend of avant garde electronics and industrial. with the sex, suicide & speed metal ep , dutch producer parrish smith works outside of the realm of genres and tempos, creating his own unique template of saturated, electronic post-punk, having won accolades from the likes of nina kraviz, and ron morelli along the way. an analogue purist at heart, parrish smith has already amassed a cult following with regular appearances on red light radio, in which the anarcho-experimentalist broadcasts sessions of heavy industrialism, breakbeats and body music.

(pronounced trip) label with a double-ep compilation entitled the deviant octopus, featuring a pair of brand new productions from kraviz alongside material from terrence dixon, emerging talent parrish smith & bjarki, and veteran producers exos & steve stoll.

parrish smith s debut of dystopic forbidding sets the tone of this label s impressive first release with a superb stark, acid ridden slab of body music. helena hauff adds to the proceedings with her remix of pankows >das vodkalied< taking no prisoners and using heavy percussion in contrast to a wonderfully tense set of arpeggiations, which all descend into skull crushing pressure. carrying over to the flip side are pankow, pioneers of the italian industrial/ebm scene, with two tracks from their legendary first tape -throw out rite- from 1983. with das vodkalied disembodied vocals are cut up and come from every direction driven by a raw, off-kilter energy and pounding beat. i m food for you cranks up the drive and anxiety to create a killer track based around stark arpeggiation. last of all, perseus traxx provides an acidic stripped down venting of frustrations which he spits out with vehemence.

the legendary man parrish is all set to return after a 20 year gap on dozer with what can only be described as the most influential record of the 80s hip hop bebop which has everyone from missy elliott to busta rhymes claiming to be a major influence on their career. the release of hip hop bebop comes with some pretty impressive remixes from man parrish himself, paul jackson, albert cabrera, the grid & solitaire!
